Description: Rabbit house was accumulated over a number of years, as were many older New Mexican houses. Lacking modern construction machinery to level the ground under an entire house, each additional room was built at ground level, with steps going up or down as needed. Rabbit House living room is three steps down from the entry and the kitchen, a couple of steps down from the bedrooms—two of which were created from a much older, smaller building that was here at least as early as the first decade of the 1900s. The house has a spacious, well furnished living room with game table and TV; a laundry and large kitchen with eating space for six, one king bedroom, one queen bedroom (with a crib in a convenient niche) and one bedroom with twin beds. Two full baths. The kitchen opens into a spacious walled patio across the path from the sunken garden and the rabbit warren. Rabbit House sleeps six to eight and has four parking spaces. It is cooled by an evaporative cooler and is centrally heated in winter. Three nights’ minimum rental. |
